2023 NBA Finals prep

Denver vs. Miami.

This matchup looks like Tankathon jumbled together some names. Like you ran a simulation on a video game. Denver and Miami in the Finals, the Nuggets feel strange for one reason, the Heat for another.

But go ahead, pick up a plate.

The Nuggets are here because Denver was the best team in the NBA this season, Miami is here after playing possum for the first 83 contests and 92 percent of its 84rd game. Four wins in seven contests is workable for either side, but Denver is the overwhelming favorite.

Miami stood in Milwaukee, New York and Boston’s way, marvelously, but Denver is different. There is potency in the Denver offense which only reveals itself when pressed, and conveniently the Nuggets feel the press. This was Denver’s year, from the outset, can’t slip now.

Denver knows it is the boss, but Miami digs this. The Heat love to spread the parts and pieces on the floor and give the instructions and good read.

DENVER NUGGETS

C: Nikola Jokic — averages 30 points, 13.3 rebounds and leads the postseason with 10.3 assists per game, 30 combined steals/blocks in 15 games. Four more wins and we might have the finest individual postseason on record.
